ABOUT

Welcome!

WHO: My name is Javier Anaya. I’m 53 years old, I am a musician, composer, teacher, writer, researcher. I've been studying and playing the piano since my years in high school. My interest on the cello came later in life, for this reason, I decided to work on "The Flats and Sharps project" as an enjoyable way to express some ideas through piano and cello.

WHERE: I am originally from Guanajuato, Mexico. I am currently living in Ensenada, a sunny city by the Pacific Ocean known for its friendly weather and vast culinary Mexican cuisine and history. Music has been a huge part in my life since I was a kid. At 15 years old, I decided to take private piano lessons with a local teacher. Not sooner than later, I was introduced to classical pieces by Beethoven and Mozart. I also studied music notation and I tried a hand at composing, discovering a new and exciting way to communicate ideas.

WHAT: I started the "Flats and Sharps project" as a music diary, but quickly turned into a full project. I write about things that inspires me. I write about the why's, the who's and what's of my life. I scribble about my fears, my joyful moments, all the people in my life. I addressed the past and the future, the imminent death, funny moments. Indeed, these compositions are inspired by real events, ideas and my points of view, of the world we live in.

WHY: These cello/piano duets are a brief glimpse into my life. They had helped me to be grounded, they'd help me to imagined an alternative world, and above all, it is music that continues touching my life. I’d like to share my music compositions and all the letters I write. In this way, I am hoping to spread some vision to the younger generation. Who knows, maybe sliced a piece of joy to the world. Perhaps give some comfort_ with a bit of music_ to those in need and mitigate all the distress life could bring, or simply entertain your day, as you wind up from a busy day at work.
