“Fighting for peace, is like fucking for chastity” ― Stephen King, Hearts in Atlantis

Hello Again everyone,

FIGHT BACK
No one needs to experience war to understand the essence of its character, which, in any case, reveals the very core of pure evil, although, there are a lot times when the enemy declares war, and we have to defend ourselves at all cost, disputing what the enemy wants from us, in which event, we do not have a choice but to capitulate or to fight back.

Our victory or our defeat depends on numerous factors, some of which we cannot control, but when it seems everything goes our way, we strike with such force in a desperate intent to defeat the one enemy that can change our world as we see it, however, when talks of victory arise, one cannot miss the fact that defeat is a close equivalent, because, to be victorious in war, one must renounce all honorable way of life.

WHO CARES WHO WINS
Fear is a force that in a conflict inundates our bodies, overwhelmed by such force, we could peacefully give in. Some of us, on the other hand, fight until the very end, surrender is not an option, even though, we are at risk to lose our life. If we make it alive, we celebrate, if we died, who cares who wins.

There is another kind of war that humans had identify: The war between “good” and “evil”, and the more ideas and myths emerge in this matter, the more we, humans, look as mere commodity, and become therefore, objects freely replaceable by these two unseen forces, simply because we find ourselves in the middle of their unjust ways.

  • Evil: Will not display the full reasons for its fight.
  • Good: Has chosen to remain silence in the case at hand.

INCREDIBLE STORIES
If all of this is true, we do not have adequate equipment to defend ourselves in an invisible war that it has been forced upon us._ How can you fight a war that does not belong to you?_  There's no victory nor defeat, there is only an endless parade of casualties.

Therefore, to find a reasonable answer to the predicament of why humans are in the middle of this fiercely, out of sight battle that takes place and to which there is no end, we have to invent incredible stories and go beyond our measures, but sadly, at the end; there is yet, no answers.

OUR WORSE ENEMY
On the other hand, the sad thing with the human condition, conceivably, is not so much that we could be at war with an opposite force, but to be at war with ourselves, and then realize later in life, that we could have avoided the disadvantageous battle in front of us. Plenty of times, we are, with no doubt, our worse enemy without even realizing it.

I am presenting a piece that I wrote, thinking about the repercussions war leaves behind. Pondering in the isolation, the pain, the horror. The violent act of war, is not a natural view to my understanding of the world, but I am not naive, and I do recognize brutality for what it is, this sentiment does not deserve to be replicate with music. I will not fall into the trap of celebrating vile acts.

If you are listening or playing this piece, I would like you to think about one of my favorite poems: Danny Boy by Frederic Weatherly. The interpretation of the lyrics depends on each person; but to me, it has always been about what death leaves behind, perhaps in the aftermath of war.

Oh Danny Boy
By Frederic Weatherly

Oh Danny boy, the pipes, the pipes are calling
From glen to glen, and down the mountain side
The summer's gone, and all the roses falling
It's you, it's you must go and I must bide.

But come ye back when summer's in the meadow
Or when the valley's hushed and white with snow
It's I'll be here in sunshine or in shadow
Oh Danny boy, oh Danny boy, I love you so.

But when ye come, and all the flow'rs are dying
If I am dead, as dead I well may be
You'll come and find the place where I am lying
And kneel and say an ave there for me.

And I shall hear, though soft you tread above me
And all my grave will warmer, sweeter be
For you will bend and tell me that you love me
And I shall sleep in peace until you come to me
